Commodore's Message

Dear GBYC Members:

At our annual general meeting in January, the membership elected Dan Balch, John McPhee, Harry Harris, Mike Potocki, Mike Wagstaff, Ken Otte, Pete Janzen, and myself to the Board. Our 2016/2017 Commodore, Ole Hammerburg is taking up the role of Past Commodore this year. On behalf of us all, thank you for your support and we are thrilled to be an active part of moving the Club forward.

The 2018 sailing season is upon us…and it is shaping up to be a busy one! From launch day to haul out the team has developed an active sailing and social calendar. Details can be found on our website and notices will be posted at the clubhouse as special events draw near. Take advantage of it... participate... stay safe... and have fun!

With member support, our 2018 budget includes a significant allocation to improve the clubhouse. Additionally, a committee of members is busy working to see how quickly we can begin the long-awaited project of seawall and dock renewal. Club members will be kept informed of any progress on this exciting project. As always, your Board is open to any input related to the operation and management of our very special club.

We are special and we are a club with something for everyone. We are about all things boating! For some that means participating in our active race program, for some it is about day sailing or vacation adventure, and for some it is about a place to talk "boat"... and to socialize and enjoy our most special Lake Huron haven with fabulous sunsets, and summer beachtown excitement. We've got it all... use it... enjoy it!

See you on the water...
